About Our School

Casa dei Bambini is a Montessori School that was founded in January of 1997 by the late Georgina Lopez Mark. Casa dei Bambini is a full member of The American Montessori Society and A Florida Department of Education School Choice.

At Casa dei Bambini, we are committed to the care and education of children. We believe that children are the most important part of our society, and thus deserve to live in an environment that provides for their positive development. In addition, we believe that this positive environment is a major factor in nurturing any child into a healthy, successful member of society. Our mission is to develop each child to their highest potential, at their own individual pace, using the Montessori philosophy as our framework. Throughout this development, respect for each child and an opportunity for individual choices will be our guide. Our goal is to provide a quality Montessori program that meets the needs of the child in a unique, stimulating, and positive educational environment.

Casa dei Bambini offers programs at 2 locations. Primary and Elementary (ages 3-12 years old) at our Pine Tree Campus. Toddler (ages 18 months to 3 years old) at our Normandy Isle Campus.

“The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”

About Maria Montessori

Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was an Italian physician and educator who developed a unique approach to early childhood education that became known as the Montessori method. She was born in Chiaravalle, Italy, and was the first woman to graduate from the University of Rome's medical school.

After completing her medical degree, Montessori began working with children who were considered "uneducable" due to developmental disabilities. She observed that these children were capable of learning and developing if given the right environment and tools. She began developing a teaching method based on her observations, which emphasized hands-on learning, individualized instruction, and respect for the child's natural development.

Montessori opened her first school, the Casa dei Bambini ("Children's House"), in Rome in 1907. The school quickly became popular, and Montessori's ideas began to spread throughout Europe and the United States. Her method was especially popular among progressive educators, who saw it as a way to promote children's independence and creativity.

In addition to her work as an educator, Montessori was also an advocate for women's rights and social reform. She was appointed as Italy's representative to the League of Nations in 1922, and she continued to travel and lecture on education throughout the world until her death in 1952.

Today, the Montessori method is still widely used in early childhood education, and there are thousands of Montessori schools throughout the world. Montessori's legacy also includes numerous books and articles on education, as well as the Montessori organizations (AMI, AMS and MACTE), which continue to promote her ideas and methods.
